Frequently asked questions
How is air freight priced?
On chargeable weight, which is the greater of actual gross weight and volumetric weight. Volumetric weight for air is normally length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000. Light, bulky cargo therefore prices on volume, which surprises shippers moving into air for the first time.
How quickly can cargo actually move?
If documents and cargo are ready by the morning, same-day or next-day uplift is often achievable on major routes. Realistically, plan for cargo acceptance, security screening and the flight, then customs clearance at destination — so a two-day flight time is usually a three to four day door-to-door reality.
Can you move dangerous goods by air?
Yes, subject to the commodity being permitted for air transport. We need the MSDS, UN number, class, packing group and net quantity per package. Some classes cannot travel on passenger aircraft and must go on a freighter, which affects both price and available flights.
What about pharmaceutical shipments?
We arrange both active containers and validated passive packaging depending on the temperature range and the duration. The critical detail is the excursion tolerance — tell us the permitted range and how long the cargo can sit on tarmac, and we route accordingly.
Is air freight worth it versus express couriers?
For small parcels under about 70 kg, an integrator is usually faster and simpler. Above that, and particularly for palletised or irregular cargo, air freight through a forwarder is normally significantly cheaper and gives you far more control over routing and documentation.
